Ever read a book so good that you do NOT want to ever put it down? I have only come across a few books like that as I am very picky with my reading! But let me just tell you, I just CANNOT put this book down! I can already feel this book transforming me. "You're Made for a God-Sized Dream," written by Holley Gerth, has been a completely eye-opening read.
I entered my fitness journey in April of 2011 and while I am blessed that God led me to this path, I never fully understood why. I was never one to be extremely passionate about fitness or health. I actually struggled with my weight most of my life; however, I was relatively healthy. It wasn't until I got pregnant that I gained a tremendous amount of weight. A whopping 50 lbs.! For the first time in my life, I was obese. It was a hard pill to swallow, but that's why I was completely grateful that God led me to this calling.
As my journey progressed, there were times I still couldn't help but wonder why me? It has now become an every aspect of my life, but I couldn't help but laugh at how the most unmotivated laziest person who would do anything to get out of P.E. in school, would now be a fitness enthusiast who inspired others to create a healthier lifestyle as well.
And then, I found this book. Almost 3.5 years later and I finally read and understood why God chose this path for me. It was amazing how I just stumbled on this page during my reading without even expecting this answer blatantly written on this page. It was so natural and organic. A time where I haven't even been wondering why me?
In big bold, italicized letters read, "Take Care of Your Body." As God says, our body is our temple. And whatever we feed it, whether that's food, knowledge, sin, negativity, positivity, etc. we are putting into our temple. We need to be in working condition in order to complete God's tasks for Him. To live out and serve, we must be strong and capable. We must be vigil and aware. Nutrition and exercise have everything to do with how good or bad we feel. So why wouldn't that also be important to God? Well, it is. I cannot fully explain how truly amazing it felt to read the words off this page, but let me tell you, any time that I get to speak or hear from God is ALWAYS a truly AMAZING feeling.
Often times, we get so wrapped up in ourselves and even what society wants from us...that we neglect the One who we should worry about the most...God. He is who knows what is best for us. He is the king of all kings. Our almighty Father and Lord. And in the end, it will be us and Him.
I'm going to put this book on my Good Read's bookshelf "to read!" Thanks!
